Major Milestones Reached; 99 Days to Go
Independence Party candidates have met major milestones in their respective campaigns. With nighty-nine day to go, these Independence Party candidates are showing they are more competitive than their predecessors.
Robert Fitzgerald, US Senate
The KSTP Survey USA Poll, released on July 24th, reports Robert Fitzgerald at 8% in his race for US Senate against the two political giants, Klobuchar and Kennedy. Historically, Independence Party US Senate Candidates have not appeared this early in polling. Fitzgerald is earning his points by campaigning in a bus converted to run on used vegetable oil that he converts to diesel fuel at a cost of less than $1 per gallon.
Fitzgerald will participate in the candidate forum on Agriculture and Rural Issues at Farm Fest ,on Tuesday, August 1st, at 10:30 a.m.

Tammy Lee, CD5 Congressional Candidate
Tammy Lee’s campaign ads will begin airing on August 1st. Lee is foregoing major networks with these ads and has carefully chosen her media outlets. Lee’s ads will be seen on popular cable television stations, including Comedy Central, Home and Garden Network, and ESPN. Tammy Lee’s targeted media strategy will more effectively reach her potentail supporters.
Tammy Lee’s fundraising efforts have surpassed any previous Independence Party Congressional candidate, with a total $50,339.46 raised, and cash-on-hand of $31,962.30, filed on her June 30th FEC report.

Peter Hutchinson, Candidate for Governor
Hutchinson is beginning to clear the first hurdle in his campaign name recognition and is ahead of Ventura in his Percentage of support. Currently, polls show 5-8 percent of poll respondents would vote for Peter Hutchinson today. While 16 percent of those polled recognized Peter Hutchinson’s name and had some impression about him, nearlyearly half the people polled who know Hutchinson are declaring support for him. This early in Governor Ventura’s campaign, 80 percent of the poll respondents knew Ventura by name, but he had only a 7 percent support from poll responders.
Hutchinson will participate in the Governors Forum at Farm Fest on August 2nd, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

John Binkowski, CD6 Congressional Candidate
Nearly fifty unpaid marchers joined Binkowski in Stillwater’s Lumberjack Days Parade. His great showing put the other candidates to shame. Binkowski’s youthful energy, passionate speaking, and visionary leadership are attracting many supporters to his campaign.
John Binkowski will be at Farm Fest, participating in the Congressional forum at 1:30 p.m., on August 1st. This will be the first chance for voters to hear all three major party candidates in this important race go head-to-head.
