INDEPENDENCE PARTY ENDORSES DAN BECKER FOR SENATE, SD15

The Independence Party announced today the endorsement of Dan Becker for the Senate seat in SD15 in the December 27 special election. Dan Becker has been an endorsed IP candidate once before, running against Mark Kennedy and Janet Robert for the 6th District Congressional seat in 2002 with party endorsement.

"St. Cloud voters know him as one of their own: energetic, hard-working, outspoken, and honest," noted IP party chair Jim Moore.

Becker's principal issues at this time: adequate support for local residents who are activated in the Guard or Reserves; adequate funding for transportation infrastructure, preferably including racino proceeds; and a new workhouse for the local area to relieve overcrowding in the jails and prison.

"As a member of the Independence Party, Dan as a Senator will not be tied to the partisan agendas which emphasize catering to major contributors and making the opposition look bad, and will be free to actually work for the concerns of his constituency", Moore noted. By party constitution, neither Becker as an IP candidate, nor the party itself, accepts any contributions from corporations, labor unions, or political action committees.
